I pushed mine to 40 then kept him there until I had other champions that did more damage. I don't disagree that he is a good champion, I just wouldn't recommend deeply investing into him. It shows that even in the absolute endgame with perfect comps, only 4 legendaries, 2 epics, and a rare with maxed out skills can beat monk in raw damage. You'll be doing great CB damage for months until you finally find a replacement that even comes close. The point with monk is it doesn't take much investment and he completely blasts most champions out of the water. Meanwhile my level 60 Elhain decked out with level 16 epic gear with 85% crit rate and 160% crit damage deals about 40-50k with her A2 and deals considerably less with the A1 and A3. It ends up being even more since his A1 gives turns resets. On hard CB, a level 40 monk with decent acc averages around 53k damage per turn with modest gear requirements from the poison. How much are you saying is a "little less"?
I would rather invest in champs that do a little less to CB How are you defining "quickly"? Getting a team to farm mino 14/15 and then actually farming scrolls for GS/WM takes many months or tons of gems.
